The Best Oil for Porsche Cars

Porsche service technician pouring oil in vehicle

Whether you’ve recently bought a new Porsche or you’re restoring a classic model for the Pineville streets, eventually, your vehicle will need an oil change to maintain its performance. What is the recommended Porsche oil type for your make, model, and year? Hendrick Porsche’s service team can help you find out! Get some basic information about the best oil for Porsche cars in this guide, and then contact our service team for help finding the right Porsche oil for your model!

Picking Your Porsche Oil Type: Synthetic vs. Conventional Oil

There are two main types of motor oil available on the market: conventional oil and synthetic oil. Porsche recommends only synthetic oil for your high-performance engine as synthetic oil is more chemically stable, oxidizes and breaks down slower, and remains fluid at lower temperatures than conventional oil.

In addition to choosing synthetic oil, Porsche also recommends choosing multi-grade oils. Multi-grade oils are mixed with special additives to maintain their viscosity at temperature extremes, giving you greater lubrication regardless of the climate. Choosing conventional oil or single-grade synthetic oils may reduce the performance of your Porsche, eating at the fuel economy, maximum horsepower, and acceleration you receive on the Matthews roads.

Recommended Porsche Oil Types

Whether you’re looking for the Porsche 911 or Porsche Macan oil type, you’ll find that the standard recommendations are all the same: Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP. Porsche has partnered with Mobil 1 to create premium oils dedicated to Porsche performance, and this specific Porsche oil type is recommended on most Porsche vehicles made after 2018. That said, there may be slightly different recommendations in your owner’s manual based on engine type and climate. Always check your owner’s manual before performing a Porsche oil change, or talk to the parts experts at Hendrick Porsche!

Have a classic Porsche model in your garage? Not to worry– Porsche Classic has created a line of motor oils built specifically for your classic sports car, ensuring you get all the same high-octane excitement out of your restored or preserved Porsche.
